‘Healthcare Information for All by 2015’: a community of purpose facilitated by Reader-Focused Moderation

‘Healthcare Information For All by 2015’ (HIFA2015) is a new global campaign that aims to improve the availability and use of healthcare information in developing countries. The campaign brings together all stakeholders as a community of purpose around a common goal, using e-mail discussion groups (Dgroups) as our main communication platform. We have developed a novel approach to facilitation - Reader-Focused Moderation - that aims to provide maximum added value to all members. The methodology of Reader-Focused Moderation is described, together with the key challenge for the future evolution of the campaign: to move beyond dialogue towards collective understanding, advocacy and action, using new collaborative authoring tools such as wiki.Published
